General info

The area of Alistrati and especially the area of the cave is distinguished both for its strategic position which is situated in the meeting point of three self-governed areas and is surrounded by three mountains and for the innumerous natural treasures it encloses.

In particular the area of Alistrati includes:

A)    The show cave of Alistrati with its captivating beauty in the three kilometers long passages decorated with enormous stalactites and stalagmites but also with the incredible heccentrites. Since 2007 the programme of environment education has been offered for pupils and it is approved by the Ministry of Education .

B)     Orfeas cave (where human bones and tools were found dating back to about 3500 B.C.)

C)     The caves of Agios Georgios (Saint George) , Chania(Inns), Peristeronas(Pigeons nesting place)

D)    The Canyon of Agitis river ,9 klms long, with its rock engravings of  the period between 5th – 6th century  B.C.(already a number of agricultural-touristic activities takes place  there like Rafting, Canoeing-Cayak, Trekking, Climbing, as well as touring with a touristic train.

E)     The mines of Libadista in the widest area of Alistrati which were used (at the Alexander the Great age) and which can be used as touristic routes.

F)      The Macedonian Tomb in Aggista village , with the traditional stone bridge.

 

 

Analytically

 

The Cave of Alistrati  is about 6 klms south of the town of Alistrati in the widest area of Serres in the position “Petroto” (of stone) and is accessible from all three places Drama, Kavala and Thessaloniki (via Serres of Asprovalta)

In the cave the visitor can admire:

-The huge stalactites and stalagmites in various colors

-The rare heccentrites . The heccentrites or helectites are ( unusual unique)cave formations which were created defying the law of gravity and followed various directions. The main characteristic of this cave in particular – which makes it unique throughout Greece – is the guite wide variety of  heccentrites.

-Shields or palettes

-Cave pearls

Another characteristic of the cave is

-the unique micro-organisms (3mms long) which are found inside , like the alistratia Beroni, a unique species without legs.

The Alistrati Cave enterprise organises an international 10-day seminar which will take place between the 10th and 20th of  July in 2013. The lectures will be given by Greek and Foreign Professors , doctors and scientists with distinguished work like the ones mentioned below :

1) Elements of general Geology-Hydro-Geology Alain Mangin (Laboratoire Moulis) Doctorate holder) in Geology.

2) Elements of Speleology

Kungur Ice Cave - An invitation

"Pearl" of Russia. The current 2018 became significant for Russia. Holding the FIFA World Cup positively influenced economy of many regions of our country. Eleven cities of the Russian Federation accepting athletes and fans from around the world. Majority of them want not only to visit football matches, but also to get acquainted with nearby sights. Doesn't stand aside, the mislaid in Perm Krai, small and cosy city Kungur and the well-known Kungur Ice cave. Located in 300 km from Yekaterinburg, the city Kungur joined the cities-participants of the World Cup. From it tourists go to the Ice cave, having brought so various geography in visits statistics. It is possible indefinitely to list the countries residents which visited for these days the kingdom of eternal winter: Mexico, Peru, Australia, Spain, Lebanon, Brazil, China, USA, India, Denmark, Netherlands, Portugal, France … Foreign tourists and citizens of Russia, having visited the Kungur ice cave, often can't express that delight which covers them after the excursion on the fantastic underground world. What is surprising and unique in the Kungur Ice cave? In what it is one and only? First, in variety of forms of ice which are presented in the cave in more than 100 kinds. Secondly, an availability of long-term ices, which age is several hundreds of years, in spite of the fact that the cave is on an insignificant elevation mark. Thirdly, the cave length, it takes the fifth place on extent among caves of a plaster karst. Fourthly, there are several long and volume grottoes, that isn't characteristic of plaster caves. Fifthly, exotic contrast, during the summer period, from a heat in + 30 degrees outside to the subzero temperature of underground halls. This list of factors which characterize fantastic space can be listed infinitely, but as the popular Russian wisdom says "A picture is worth a thousand words". Welcome to the Kungur Ice cave!!!
